Blak Brew Haus: Brewing Pathways to Success with Equality Education

When Blak Brew Haus reached out to Equality Education to train their two newly employed team members through the Pathway to Success Program, the collaboration instantly felt right. As a First Nations-owned and operated café, Blak Brew Haus embodies the values of empowerment, opportunity, and culture, principles that align perfectly with Equality Education’s commitment to real training and real outcomes.

Blak Brew Haus Managing Director Natasha shared, “Blak Brew Haus is more than just coffee – it’s coffee with a purpose. Every cup represents an opportunity for young people in our community to gain real training, step into real jobs and create real impact. Through this social enterprise, we’re not only serving coffee, we’re building pathways, confidence and futures.”

Natasha’s vision of creating opportunities for First Nations people led to Zina-Rose and Tyani joining the team, two passionate young women eager to gain barista, food safety and workplace compliance and culture training. That’s where Equality Education stepped in, ensuring they received hands-on, nationally recognised training that went beyond textbooks and tick and flick learning.

Through the Barista Skills, Food Safety, and Workplace Culture units, Zina-Rose and Tyani developed essential skills that prepare them for real employment, while also deepening their understanding of teamwork, hygiene and workplace expectations. Equality Education’s Pathway to Success Program is built to do exactly that, equip individuals with the practical skills, confidence and discipline needed to thrive in any workplace.

Zina-Rose proudly shared her experience, saying “This course was perfect for me, from the duration to all the material I learned. It’s very flexible and achievable. I believe it really is equally perfect for people like mums, young students and all First Nations people.”

For Tyani, the experience was just as transformative “I’ve learned so much from this course and now feel much more confident making coffee, I never realised there was so much more to it than just pressing a button.”

Their growth didn’t go unnoticed. Arty, Founder and CEO of Equality Education, reflected on their journey with pride “I saw Zina and Tyani’s confidence and knowledge grow each day. They even made me an amazing hot chocolate, which I was absolutely thrilled about!”

Even Equality Education’s neighbours joined in the excitement, popping by for coffees and remarking that “the girls make the best coffee.” Those simple compliments brought huge smiles to Zina and Tyani, showing them that their hard work was paying off, not just in skills, but in self-belief.

This partnership between Blak Brew Haus and Equality Education showcases the true power of community collaboration. When local, ethical organisations come together, they don’t just deliver training, they deliver transformation.

Equality Education is proud to stand alongside Blak Brew Haus in creating real opportunities for First Nations people, ensuring that every cup poured and every skill learned continues to make a positive impact across our community.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just coffee. It’s Coffee with Purpose.
