When Nancy arrived from Peru, she wanted more than just training, she wanted an authentic Australian experience. Through Equality Education, she found both. Recently, Nancy completed her Food Safety Supervisor and Barista training courses and along the way, she discovered not only how to make the perfect latte but also her first taste of Vegemite, a true Aussie milestone.
Nancy said she was deeply impressed by the support and care shown throughout her training. From the moment she walked into the classroom, she was welcomed with genuine smiles and encouragement. “Everyone was so kind and patient,” she shared. “They didn’t just teach me skills, they made me feel like part of the family.”
During her Barista course, Nancy learned how to steam milk to silky perfection, calibrate the espresso machine and master the art of making café-quality coffee beverages. She also gained essential Food Safety Supervisor knowledge, learning how to maintain hygiene standards, prevent contamination and ensure food safety compliance, vital skills for anyone wanting to work in hospitality.
But what truly made Nancy’s training special was the chance to embrace Australian culture firsthand. Between coffee pours and classroom discussions, she got to experience Vegemite for the very first time, a moment filled with laughter and curiosity. “It’s… different!” she said with a smile, “but I love how everyone here wanted me to try it, it made me feel like a real Aussie!”
Equality Education prides itself on providing real training and real outcomes, ensuring every student feels supported, valued and confident to step into the workforce. For Nancy, the experience went beyond qualifications, it was about connection, culture and community.
As she looks ahead to her future in Australia’s hospitality industry, Nancy says she’ll never forget the people, the lessons and that unforgettable first taste of Vegemite.
